v.90 Scheduled for Rollout

You've asked for it -- and it's coming down the pipe! v.90 Internet access is scheduled for rollout beginning April 19th.

What is v.90?

Southwestern Bell Internet Servives is upgrading to v.90, the new international standard for high-speed modem communication. v.90 offers connect speeds up to 56Kbps.

The new v.90 standard has been ratified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and all major modem manufacturers have announced their support for it. v.90 replaces two different, older technologies, K56flex and x2, which were previously used to enable high-speed communication. Upgrading to the new standard allows Southwestern Bell Internet Services to provide the highest connection speed possible with an analog modem, while ensuring compatibility with the type of equipment our subscribers are most likely to own.

Here is our current deployment schedule for v.90 Internet access:

April 19

May 3

May 10

May 17

You may need to make changes to your modem or settings to enable v.90 access. For further information, refer to our 56K FAQ.
